About these Photos

Come walk with me through the Central Florida wetlands and see what I saw. I originally set out to see if I could master the challenge of photographing birds in flight. Capturing those fleeting moments requires patience, concentration, and a willingness to be fully present. Over time, I discovered that the practice itself became as rewarding as the photographs. Time spent walking through Florida's wetlands with a camera led to greater appreciation and connection to nature. Spending time in these places has also given me a greater understanding of the wildlife and ecosystems they support. The images on this site are both the result of that experience and an invitation to share it. What draws me back to the wetlands is more than a desire to document what I see. I believe people are more likely to protect what they value, and more likely to value what they have come to appreciate. My hope is that these photographs inspire a similar sense of wonder, curiosity, and connection to this remarkable part of the natural world. For those interested in the technical side of the work, most of these images were made with a Sony A1 and either a 200–600mm or 100–400mm lens. Photographing wildlife in motion often means working at shutter speeds of 1/2000 of a second, and capturing up to 30 frames per second, while maintaining a respectful distance from the animals being photographed.
